We at LexMedia are anguished by the senseless murder of George Floyd, and the continued physical, verbal, and emotional abuse perpetrated against Black people across the country. We stand against systemic and institutional racism, and condemn police brutality.
As an organization dedicated to free speech, and based in Lexington, MA―the birthplace of American liberty―LexMedia condemns the violence and aggressive response committed by police and the military against peaceful demonstrators in our nation’s capital, and in major cities across the nation. We stand with those who have been oppressed because of the color of their skin, and echo their call for justice through peaceful protest.
We say their names: George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, David McAtee, Oscar Grant, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice, Emmett Till, and countless others. We remember them with respect and admiration, and stand in solidarity with those who seek justice for the violent actions taken against these victims of brutality.
LexMedia is committed to racial justice, and we pledge to continue amplifying the voices of those in our community who speak out against this kind of senseless violence, and provide a safe space for creative expression.
